Behind the Scenes with Thigh Society

About a month ago you may recall how excited I was that I met Marnie, the Maven behind Thigh Society (the anti-chafing garment).  Her garment has positively impacted not only my life but the lives of many women I know.  She’s a real life super hero!

Not long after our meet cute, I received an email from Marnie, inviting me to participate in an upcoming shoot featuring her garments.  I cheerfully and excitedly accepted!  I love the garment and I’m just vain enough to say I love getting my photo taken so I was definitely in!

I woke up with the birds for my 9:30am call time last Thursday.  It was rainy and windy and wet and awful.  I was thankful that my day included hair and makeup because I was in no mood to spend 2 hours getting ready.  As my TTC luck would have it, my plan to leave early to give myself plenty of time to get there was foiled by over full buses and the crush of humans trying to get where they need to go.  Seriously TTC…. get it together.

Luckily I was only a few minutes behind schedule (even though I left 20 minutes early) and it seemed to be the theme of the day.  I was at the studio about 3 minutes when I was offered a coffee (halleloo!) and the talented Hair and Makeup team got their hands on me.  Shira - the makeup artist, was confused when she saw me.  She was told pretty/conservative makeup for the models and then the first model to show up is tattooed, pierced and has pink hair.  She gave me a pretty, glow-y face with a glossy red lip…perfection!  Angi - Hairstylist, gave me beautiful, bouncy waves that flowed together perfectly, pretty much my go-to style.  I was very into the look these ladies had crafted for me.  And they were super wonderful to chat with to boot!

The beauty team was hard at work all day while the models lounged drinking mimosas and coffee.

The photographer on set for the day was Emily of Emily D Photography. She was just a joy to work with.  She kept telling me that we were going to “break the internet” with the photos we were taking.  She was great at giving direction and keeping our energy up!  And she’s a complete doll!

My Pageant sister Latoya was on set too!  It was so great to see her again and catch up.

The day flew by, filled with a bevy of babes, good tunes, laughter, some happy tears and of course, a few cocktails. We wrapped the shoot with a creative project Emily had in mind.  We mixed some paint and basically just threw it at each other.

The day ended with us all covered in paint, laughing and squealing.  It was like a scene from a junior high slumber party.  I can’t wait to see the finished product.
